OLD ROAD UNITED JETS AND CAYON ROCKETS OPEN FINAL FOUR WITHNARROW VICTORIES

The 2025/2026 SKNFA Final Four Playoffs got off to an exciting start as MFCR Old Road

United Jets and Azul Cayon Rockets both secured 1-0 wins in their respective opening matches

at the National Bank Group Technical Center. In the first match of the double header, Azul

Cayon Rockets edged Honda Newtown United 1-0 courtesy of a 20th-minute strike from Mervin

Lewis.

Speaking after the match, Assistant Coach Anthony “Nets” Isaac emphasized the importance of

maintaining focus as the team pushes toward a spot in the finals. “The guys are on camp right

now, so it's really a togetherness right now... it is just about football at all times,” he said. He also

pointed to the need for improved defending in midfield, ahead of their next outing. “Just a little

more defence in the midfield area...we just asked them to come back in, just to keep it together,

but going forward we need to work a little more on the defence in the middle of the field itself.”

In the second encounter, regular season champions—and still unbeaten—MFCR Old Road

United Jets secured a hard-fought 1-0 win over a 10-man Development Bank St. Peters FC. The

decisive goal came from leading scorer Tiquanny Williams. Head Coach Alexis Morris credited

his team’s mental focus as key to grinding out the result. “I would have told my team, it's no

longer about the fitness or the volume of work that we did, but basically about sharpness,

mentality, clarity and recovery. To me, for most of it, out of those four things that I spoke about,

they were equal to about two of them. I think that there were some insularities that crept in on

our guys, but we were good enough to get the winner, and that is what I'm grateful for,” Morris

said.

St. Peters Coach Wayne Phillip praised his players for their resilience, despite going down early

to 10 men. “They played with guts; they really showed that they wanted that win. I mean the red

card really affected us, and I could see the guys were fighting even after that...seeing the results,

I am super proud of the guys, I'm super proud of them, we're just going to build from strength to

strength from there,” Phillip said.

The Final Four Playoffs continue on Wednesday, May 6, with Azul Cayon Rockets taking on

Development Bank St. Peters FC at 6:30 p.m., followed by MFCR Old Road United Jets versus

Honda Newtown United at 8:30 p.m.
