NATIONAL SECRETARIAT FOR HUMAN SECURITY AND WELLBEING

The National Secretariat for Human Security and Wellbeing has continued its programme of

national engagements with a high-level meeting held on Nevis on 26th April, 2026, reinforcing

collaboration between the Federal Government and the Nevis Island Administration.

The St. Kitts delegation was led by Senator Isalean Phillip, Co-Chair of the Human Security and

Wellbeing Task Force. She was joined by Coordinator of the Secretariat, Ms. Eartha Carey, and

Acting Programme Director, Mr. Hance Richards, who leads on research and data analysis.

The delegation was received by the Cabinet of the Nevis Island Administration, led by Premier

Mark Brantley.

During the hour-long engagement, the delegation provided an update on the ongoing work of the

Secretariat, including several community engagements conducted on Nevis since the start of

2026. Discussions also focused on upcoming national initiatives, including the first annual Own

Your Summer youth initiative, which forms part of the broader Summer of Intervention

programme.

The Own Your Summer initiative targets young people between the ages of 13 and 20 and will

be delivered in partnership with businesses, sports groups, faith-based organisations, and

2

community groups. The programme will offer a range of opportunities, including skills

development, educational support, and job placements, with the aim of ensuring that young

people remain constructively engaged during the summer months.

The meeting was described as meaningful and engaging, with valuable contributions from both

the St. Kitts delegation and members of the Nevis Island Administration.

Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to continued collaboration, with the Secretariat

emphasising that its work is national in scope. Officials underscored that Nevis will continue to

play a central role as a key partner in the implementation of programmes and initiatives.

The Secretariat’s next public stakeholder engagement is scheduled for 6th May, 2026, at 5:30pm

at the National Solid Waste Management Authority Conference Room, in Taylors Range.

The National Secretariat for Human Security and Wellbeing continues to advance a coordinated,

community-driven approach to safety and wellbeing through sustained engagement, partnership,

and national collaboration.
