PIANO RECITAL THRILLS AUDIENCE
Charlestown-Nevis-On the evening of Tuesday 5 th May, a fair-sized audience was present at the
Charlestown Methodist church, to witness a live
piano recital by internationally renewed pianist, Yu- Hshuan Feng, out of Taipei in Taiwan.
The fifty minutes production was ably chaired by
Mrs. Deslyn Johnson. Ms. Feng played some tunes that were known to members of the audience and some that were not
known and later teamed up with local Violinist, Mrs. Mauricia Claxton, to play the well-known local tune
“Nevis lovely Nevis.’
The evening’s performance was dubbed ‘harmony across cultures.’ Ms. Feng started her musical journey at age four and went on to win the prestigious International Asian elite competition.
She currently serves as a church organist and educator. The evening concluded with a stunning dual performance with her sister, utilizing the same piano. Among those present, were: Her honour Hyleta Liburd and Mr. Liburd, Premier Mark Brantley and Mrs. Brantley, along with members of the NIA cabinet.
