MOE SUPPORTS STEP-HOSTED HR TRAINING WORKSHOP

Basseterre, St. Kitts: The Ministry of Education (MOE) is collaborating

with the Skills Training Empowerment Programme (STEP) and the St. Kitts Nevis Anguilla

Training and Development Centre (TDC) to support a human resource development initiative

aimed at strengthening professional skills within the workforce.

The workshop, which focuses on curriculum vitae (CV) and résumé writing as well as interview

preparation, is hosted by STEP and facilitated by TDC. The Ministry of Education is providing

key support for the initiative, ensuring that participants can benefit fully from the training

sessions.

Mrs. Dawn Hodge-Percival, Training Officer, STEP, explained that the initiative is designed to

equip individuals with essential skills for professional development and workplace readiness.

“The training is about CV writing and interviews, so that participants can gain better knowledge

about how to write a CV and how to answer interview questions during an interview session. We

hope that at the end of this training, the participants will be more knowledgeable about CV

writing and interview skills.”

Ms. Chantel Lewis, participant in the training, shared that the programme has been a positive and

empowering experience, helping to build confidence and strengthen her ability to present herself

effectively in professional settings.

“I am one of the participants in the CV and interview training. It is going awesome. I have learnt

how to write a resume and how to put forth myself better when it comes to having an interview.

At the end of the session, I will be able to write my own CV without the help of others. The

training from the interview will help boost my confidence. I will also be able to sit in an

interview without being nervous. I am now also equipped with the knowledge and skills that are

needed for an interview.”

This collaborative effort forms part of ongoing measures to enhance employability and

professional readiness among individuals. Participants are expected to gain practical knowledge

and skills that will better position them for career advancement and workforce engagement.
