MCCC TAKES FIRST INNINGS POINTS AS RED BALL RETURNS
Captain Larry Audain delivered a commanding performance with the bat to lead Molineaux-Cayon Cricket Club to first innings honours in a drawn encounter against La Poinciana Cricket Club, as red ball cricket officially returned in the St. Kitts Cricket Association’s Andrew Weekes 2-Day Competition at the Conaree Cricket Centre.
Audain anchored the Molineaux-Cayon innings with a superb unbeaten 155, showcasing patience, control, and authority throughout his time at the crease. His innings formed the backbone of his team’s imposing 349 for 4 declared in 67 overs, with support coming from Jaeel Clarke (74)
La Poinciana, in reply, were bowled out for 173 in 51.3 overs despite a top score of 42 from Elijah Lewis. The Molineaux-Cayon bowling attack was spearheaded by Bodgenarine Sharma, who claimed 3 for 37, with valuable support from Jahzaraclaxton and others.
Asked to follow on, La Poinciana showed improved resistance in their second innings, reaching 105 for 2 at the close of play. Bervis Burke led the fightback with an unbeaten 65, while Shaquan Pemberton added 23.
The match, which signalled the return of red ball cricket to the local calendar, ended in a draw with Molineaux-Cayon holding the advantage on first innings to secure valuable points in the early stages of the competition.
