YOUNG GUNS LEAD LA POINCIANA IN RED BALL OPENER

The Andrew Weekes Red Ball Two-Day Tournament produced an exciting contest over the weekend as Young Guns and La Poinciana played to a hard-fought draw at the St. Kitts venue on May 9 and 10, 2026.

After winning the toss, Young Guns elected to field first. La Poinciana were bowled out for 192 in their first innings, thanks largely to a brilliant 99 from captain Mikyle Louis and 55 from Shelton Forbes. The pair rescued their side after a disastrous start that saw them slump to 5 for 3.

Young Guns captain Kunal Tilokani led from the front with the ball, taking 3 wickets for 50 runs, while Alvin Cyril also claimed 3 for 33.

In reply, Young Guns posted 237 for 9 declared, securing a valuable first-innings lead of 45 runs. R. Didder scored a composed 50, wicketkeeper Carlton Pluck added an aggressive 54, and Tilokani contributed 35 at the top of the order. Extras also played a significant role, with 48 added to the total.

La Poinciana’s most effective bowler was Shaquan Pemberton, who delivered an outstanding spell of 4 wickets for just 12 runs from nine overs, while G. Patrick supported well with 3 for 41.

Setting out to erase the deficit and push for victory, La Poinciana produced a much stronger batting display in their second innings, amassing 298 all out. Jeremiah Louis dominated the innings with a spectacular 170 from just 113 balls, striking 12 fours and 12 sixes. He shared a match-defining partnership of 215 runs with Forbes, who made 63.

Tilokani once again starred with the ball, claiming 6 wickets for 80 runs, while Tyrese Murray and Curdel Crook chipped in with two wickets each.

Chasing 254 for victory in the final session, Young Guns safely negotiated nine overs to reach 40 without loss before the match ended in a draw. Pluck remained unbeaten on 23, while Didder finished not out on 9.

For his all-round performance, Young Guns captain Kunal Tilokani was named Man of the Match after scoring 35 runs and taking nine wickets across both innings.

Next game this weekend will feature Molineaux/Cayon versus Young Guns at Conaree starting 1p.m. on Satuday.
