WOMEN’S FOOTBALL RETURNS WITH A BANG THIS MONTH

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts: Excitement is reaching a fever pitch as women’s football makes its highly anticipated return this month. The thrilling action begins with the staging of the President’s Cup on June 14, followed by the official start of the 2026 Elvis Star Browne Women’s League on June 20. Head of Women’s Football, Kalia Huggins, noted that enthusiasm is building rapidly among the participating teams as they fine-tune their preparations for the upcoming season, including the defending league champions, Mapau Cayon Rockettes.

“Cayon is ready to defend their title. And I know (Old Road) is not going to back down because I'm sure the females are coming out to see if they can do something similar to what the male (team) did. (Old Road) is on a rampage right now trying to capture all titles, but I'm thinking that Cayon...(are) ready to come out and defend this title. So, I'm looking forward to the hype around the President's Cup,” Huggins said.

All matches this season will be played at the National Bank Group Technical Center. Huggins is making a passionate appeal to football enthusiasts and the wider public to fill the stands and show their solidarity with the athletes.

“The females are ready to come on out and do their best and just play their hearts out ... the games will be streaming. So, you can definitely just log on and look at the game. But trust me, it feels better; the support is better when you're in the stands cheering for your team. So, I'm asking everybody to come on out,” she said. “Rally behind Cayon. Rally behind OR. Rally behind your team... So, we're definitely encouraging everyone to come on out, just relax, have fun and come and cheer for your team.” Opening Match Schedule The season officially roars to life with the President’s Cup on Sunday, June 14 at 6:00 p.m., featuring a blockbuster showdown between defending champions Mapau Cayon Rockettes and
