ANNUAL SCHOOLS CRICKET BEGINS
The 2026 Runako Morton/TDC sponsored Primary Schools Cricket tournament, officially bowled off on Monday 22 nd June. A brief opening ceremony was held at the ET Willet Park, which was ably chaired by Director of Sports, Mr. Aljay Newton. The invocation was done by Pastor Gene Amory Jr and the national anthem of St. Kitts and Nevis, was uniquely played on violin by Karri Daniel of the VOJN school.
Representing TDC, was operations Manager, Mr. Thyrone Hendrickson, who implored the youngsters to play hard, but fair and enjoy themselves in the process. The players’ oath was presented by Aiden Walters of the Ivor Walters Primary School and the officials’ oath was delivered by Sports officer, Kerisha Powell.
Minster of Sports, Hon. Troy Liburd, delivered remarks before declaring the tournament open. He noted that Nevis has already placed seven players on the West Indies team and indicated that he was looking for more from this crop of players.
Among those present at the ceremony, was Keith Arthurton, former West indies player.
