2026 BANK OF NEVIS 40-OVER DIVISION 2 CRICKET SEASON UNDERWAY
Highlights 2 completed a dominant victory in the 2026 Bank of Nevis 40-Over Division 2 as they brushed aside a shorthanded Jets side by 5 wickets at Brown Hill on Sunday. The Jets, who took the field with just 7 players, never threatened to post a competitive total after electing to bat first. They were bowled out for 82 in 14.5 overs, a target Highlights 2 overhauled in 12.4 overs to finish on 83/5, with 17.2 overs to spare.
FIRST INNINGS: JETS STUMBLE AGAINST DISCIPLINED ATTACK
The Jets’ innings unraveled early. A miscommunication at the crease led to the run-out of Curtis Morton Sr, removing a key presence before the side could settle in the second over. Jhaidel Allen offered brief resistance at the top of the order, striking 3 boundaries in a 20-run knock off 28 deliveries before being dismissed leg before wicket (LBW).
The middle overs brought further trouble. Zakeem Bailey was the chief tormentor, collecting 2 wickets
in consecutive deliveries to leave the Jets reeling. Tejahni Daniel batted with real purpose and showed
the composure to resist but couldn’t find a partner to reciprocate at the other end. His unbeaten 25 off 29 balls, capped by a late flurry of boundaries, pushed the total to 82 before the innings closed in the 15th over.
SECOND INNINGS: BAILEY ANCHORS THE CHASE
Defending 83, the Jets made early inroads. Although only fielding with 7 players, they showed great
determination and effort throughout the chase. Wily veteran Curtis Morton Sr was at his best with the
ball, claiming 3/22 to keep Highlights 2 honest deep into the reply. His variations bamboozled the young Highlights batsmen.
Tyreese Jeffers fell early before Taysean Wilkinson injected urgency into the chase, hitting 15 off 10
balls including 2 boundaries, before also going LBW. When Tylo Nisbett followed for 14, the match opened up briefly. Bailey was not to be rattled. The all-rounder, already the standout bowler in the first innings, anchored the chase with an unbeaten 20 off 33 balls to guide Highlights 2 home at 83/5 in 12.4 overs. Result: Highlights 2 won by 5 wickets (83/5 in 12.4 overs, chasing 83)
